What does Dr.BAMU Alumni Association mean?

Dr.BAMU is an acronym for Dr.Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University,one of the top Universities in India located in Aurangabad,Maharashtra State.The Kenyan-based Alumni, in their inaugural meeting, resolved to form a Kenya Chapter of the Alma mater in order to maintain links with the University as well as further individual and collective member interests here in Kenya.

How does one become a Member?

A graduate of Dr.Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University or any of its constituent colleges may become a member by registering on line by clicking on Membership and filling in all the details in the form and and then remitting to the Treasurer the annual subscription fee based on the category of membership chosen.He or she should also attach a passport size photo and submit the form for the Executive Committees attention and approval (if eligible).A receipt and a registration number will be sent to the member once approved.

 

The Membership categories is as follows:

  1. i) Ordinary:
    • Gold Members – Pioneers and members who have been graduates for more than 25 years
    • Silver Members – Members who have been graduates for 15 to 24 years
    • Bronze Members – Members who have been graduates for 14 years and below
    • The annual subscription is Ksh.2,000.00 only
  2. ii) Honorary:

This category is for not graduates of Dr.Bababaseb Ambedkar Marathwada University but who share the same vision as the membership and commit to support us in attaining the Association’s objectives. The subscription fee shall be the same as that of an Ordinary Member.

 

  • iii) Life Membership :-
  1. Gold members – 50,000.00
  2. Silver members – 30,000.00
  3. Bronze members – Ksh.10,000.00

Is there any Registration fee?

YES. Every Alumnus shall pay a one-off Registration fee of Ksh.500.00 together with the initial Annual Subscription fee as shall be directed by the Treasurer

What are the rules governing the operations of the Association?

The Association is registered under The Societies Act of Kenya Cap 108 and the rules are as per its Constitution.

Must an Alumnus be based in Kenya in order to qualify as a Member?

No. Registration is done on line and therefore any Alumnus,even thos based in the diaspora, may fill in the Membership registration form and remit the Subscription and registration fee for the relevant membership category.

How can a member be involved in the operations of the association?

Any member may initiate an Association event or activity and therefore all members are invited to Get involved so as to make our Association’s star shine even brighter. The respective committees will assist in the implementation process.

What are the benefits of one becoming a Gold, Bronze or Silver member?

Membership is purely voluntary based and therefore the success of the Association’s events and activities rests solely (at least for the moment) on member contributions.

Any member who may desire to fund a specific event or augment the Association’s operations capacity may join this special category of membership- which is a one-time payment. He or she will have a say in the utilization of the said funds and may be invited by the Executive Committee from time to time for strategic planning purposes.Priority will also be given to these members during registration, in sitting arrangement and also recognition during the plenary meetings.Do not miss out.

Can an ongoing student join the Alumni Association?

Yes. There shall be a Student Alumni Initiative (SAI) membership comprising of ongoing students and who shall run their affairs independently, and upon graduation and return to Kenya, shall join the membership of the Association. No registration fee shall be applicable to this group.

Can the Association assist me in getting duplicate copies of my certificates?

Yes. The Executive Committee may get in touch with the University or elicit the assistance of our Students Alumni Initiative leadership based in India to assist in fast tracking that and similar applications

Can I cease to be a member of the Association?

Membership is designed to last a life time by virtue of one being a graduate of Dr.Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University.However, a Member may be suspended or expelled only as per specific conditions as set out in Clause 3 of our Constitution.
